The Wisley Auction Terms & Conditions

  1. The Wisley charity auctions, held to raise funds for The Wisley Foundation (“TWF”), are scheduled around specific events, with details such as (“the Bid Period”) and event-specific terms and conditions to be published closer to each auction date.
  2. All bids must be submitted by the Member & their guests via our dedicated auction site, https://thewisleyauction.com. The Club cannot accept bids via phone or email, and any submitted through these methods are not guaranteed to be received before the deadline. To ensure your bid is valid and on time, please use the official platform only.
  3. By placing a bid, the bidder is deemed to have accepted the Auction Terms and Conditions, to be bidding on their own behalf, and if successful, is committed to purchasing the item at their latest bid.
  4. The Wisley has described the auction items as accurately as possible with the assistance of the donors, but neither warrants nor represents that the descriptions are complete or correct. The Wisley, its staff, Members and/or any volunteers connected with the auction have not vetted any of the auction items and shall not be liable for any claims, expenses, costs and or any losses or damage suffered by a bidder.
  5. In addition to these terms and conditions, some auction items may have specific donation conditions attached. Where applicable, the successful bidder will be deemed to be aware of and bound by them.
  6. Where an auction item has a reserve price, the item will not be sold for less than the stated reserve price.
  7. The Wisley reserves the right to extend the auction and, without notice, add or withdraw items to or from the auction.
  8. The highest bid (deemed genuine by The Wisley) received by the end of the Bid Period will secure the auction item as per timings displayed on The Wisley’s auction software. Successful bidders will be notified by email at the conclusion of the auction.
  9. All the proceeds from the auction, unless expressly stated otherwise, will go to The Wisley’s charity, The Wisley Foundation, https://thewisleyfoundation.com.
  10. Payments must be made in full and settled within 5 working days of the auction. This can be made by bank transfer directly to The Wisley Foundation’s bank account (details of which will be sent to successful bidders), debit card, in cash or by CAF cheque at The Wisley (for the Club to deposit into The Wisley Foundation’s bank account), or, for Members of The Wisley by debiting their membership account. Bidders who are Members of The Wisley accept that by bidding, they are authorising The Wisley to debit their membership account for the value of any successful bid if not otherwise paid within 5 working days of the auction. Gift Aid can potentially be claimed in certain circumstances. Bidders are responsible for seeking their own tax advice.
  11. Payment must be received from successful bidders who are not guests of a Member of The Wisley before goods can be collected.
  12. Where relevant, all auction items must be collected from The Wisley within 28 days of the Auction, at the successful bidder’s expense. Failing that, The Wisley reserves the right to re-auction the item with no recompense to the original bidder.
  13. Where the auction item is a service (for example a villa or other property usage, holiday, boat charter, racetrack experience, etc.), the successful bidder must make the appropriate arrangements to use the service directly with the donor. The Wisley will provide the successful bidder with the donor’s contact details to make such arrangements, but beyond that The Wisley is not responsible in any way for the provision of the service. Any time extensions, amendments to bookings, etc. will be at the sole discretion of the donor.
